So how did a crazy Teen Idol Rocker end up a respected entertainer on Television and Broadway? Every song has a story. Like a Rock ‘n’ Roll Mark Twain, Rex Smith takes you on a wild and fascinating, sometimes dramatic, yet very hilarious, musical story-telling journey.

From the crazy antics of Rock ‘n’ Roll, his excitement and pressures behind a six-album deal as a #1 Platinum recording artist with Columbia Records, his two years opening for Ted Nugent, his last concert with Lynyrd Skynyrd before their plane crash (and what really happened), what led Rex to become an overnight sensation as the Teen Idol that took him around the world, and the despair that came with the title. His television roles include “Sooner Or Later”, “Street Hawk”, “Solid Gold”, “As The World Turns”, “The Daredevil”, and more. His sudden rise to Broadway brought him “The Pirates of Penzance” with Kevin Kline and Linda Ronstadt, earning him the coveted Theatre World Award. He’s also appeared in “Grease”, “Grand Hotel”, “Annie Get Your Gun”, “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, “Kiss Me Kate”, and “Sunset Boulevard”…to where he met his 16 year-old son Brandon for the first time- a son he never knew he had…

    Jay Bragg

When songwriter Jay Bragg left the state of Maine and his band North of Nashville behind to move to Nashville, TN, he knew that little of the small town glory he had as a musician would mean anything in a city known for crushing dreams.  But he simply had to do it.

As a child, Jay’s home was filled with guitars, singing and vinyl records spanning the landscape of American music – the down home country of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, the soulful rhythm and blues of Ray Charles and James Brown, the harmony driven folk of Simon and Garfunkel and Crosby, Stills and Nash and the rock ’n’ roll of The Beatles and The Who.

Staring at age 5, Jay began performing in front of audiences playing first the violin, then the piano, drums, guitar and vocals but it wasn’t until he started playing the bar circuit in Portland, Maine that it became clear that music was something that he could make a living from.  Never the critical darling or the singer deemed “most likely to make it”, he fought tooth and nail to book gigs and get better at his craft.

Jay spent years fronting various bar bands – most successfully the outlaw country duo North of Nashville who toured the country, playing 200 dates a year and sharing the stage with the likes of Brothers Osborne, Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan and Chris Stapleton. NoN was awarded “Country Act Of The Year” by the New England Music Awards in 2015. However, within 2 months of winning that prestigious award, Jay Bragg, feeling himself outgrowing a relatively small music market, decided to leave it all behind and move to Nashville to in hopes to be challenged like never before but with the chance of reaching the widest audience possible.

Jay Bragg will be releasing his debut EP as a solo artist this summer.  Judging from his character, this tireless underdog will see will see to it that Nashville – and the rest of the country – will take notice.  No matter the cost.

    https://youtu.be/u1Y73QRHjk8

SZLACHETKA (pronounced SLA-HET-KA) draws your gaze back to a simpler time when music was less about stylized production and more about its experiential nature. His songwriting finds inspiration in the threads that connect us, weaving a tapestry of familiar moments that pay homage to the past while leaning into a future that promises both wonder and grace. Now based in Nashville, SZLACHETKA grew up in New England and began his career as the frontman for the acclaimed roots-rock band, The Northstar Session, with whom he recorded five albums and appeared in the second season of TV’s “Parenthood”.  After nearly a decade of touring he left the band and struck out on his own, releasing his first solo album in 2014, “Waits for a Storm to Find”. SZLACHETKA’s sophomore album, “Heart of my Hometown” is set for release in the summer of 2017.

Rolling Stone hailed SZLACHETKA as one of the 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know, describing his forthcoming album as “a soundtrack for both the highway and the heartland… a collection of road-dog roots-rockers and Americana ballads inspired by the people (and places) he’s left behind in the rearview mirror.”

53 Old Post Road, Arundel, Maine 04046, United States
Suzanne Vega at Vinegar Hill Music Theatre

Suzanne Vega was born in Santa Monica, CA, but grew up in Spanish Harlem and the Upper West Side of New York City. She was influenced by her mother, a computer systems analyst and her stepfather, the Puerto Rican writer Egardo Vega Yunque. There was a heady mix of multicultural music playing at home: Motown, bossa nova, jazz and folk. At age 11 she picked up a guitar and as a teenager she started to write songs.

Suzanne studied dance at the High School for the Performing Arts and later attended Barnard College where she majored in English Literature. It was in 1979 when Suzanne attended a concert by Lou Reed and began to find her true artistic voice and distinctive vision for contemporary folk. Receptionist by day, Suzanne was hanging out at the Greenwich Village Songwriter’s Exchange by night. Soon she was playing iconic venues like The Bottom Line and Folk City. The word was out and audiences were catching on.

The opening song on Solitude Standing was a strange little a cappella piece, “Tom’s Diner” about a non-descript restaurant near Columbia University uptown. Without Suzanne’s permission, it was remixed by U.K. electronic dance duo DNA and bootlegged as “Oh Susanne.” Suddenly her voice on this obscure tune was showing up in the most unlikely setting of all: the club. Suzanne permitted an official release of the remix of “Tom’s Diner” under its original title, which reached #5 on the Billboard pop chart and went gold. In 1991 a compilation, Tom’s Album, brought together the remix and other unsolicited versions of the song. Meanwhile, Karlheinz Brandenburg, the German computer programmer, was busy developing the technology that would come to be known as the MP3.

Suzanne Vega is an artist that continues to surprise. In 2011 in New York City she premiered “Carson McCullers Talks About Love,” an original play written and performed by Ms. Vega with songs she wrote with Tony Award-winner Duncan Sheik (“Spring Awakening”). A pioneer among singer-songwriters. Suzanne has also embarked on a project to re-imagine her own songbook in a stripped down and intimate manner, creating four new thematic albums that will be released over the course of 2010-2012 called the Close-Up series.

Ms. Vega continues to tour constantly, having just played dates with artists as diverse as Moby and Bob Dylan.
